How do you spot and at­tract tal­ent?

We look for right at­ti­tude and be­havioural com­pe­ten­cies in any can­di­date. How­ever, we strongly be­lieve that skills can be de­vel­oped, com­pe­ten­cies can be cul­ti­vated but the right at­ti­tude can­not be nur­tured

What kind of a work­place en­vi­ron­ment do you strive to cre­ate?

As part of the Ja­panese way of work­ing, we strive to cre­ate a work­place which is fair, trans­par­ent and has chal­lenges around it. We also re­spect each other and be­lieve in giv­ing a fair chance to all our em­ploy­ees

What spe­cific at­tributes/val­ues do you look for in can­di­dates be­ing in­ter­viewed?

We specif­i­cally look for hon­esty, dis­ci­pline, straight­for­ward­ness and com­pe­tency in the area of work

Are skill sets im­por­tant when hir­ing for your com­pany?

Skill sets vary de­pend­ing on roles. For a sales man­ager, we look for typ­i­cal sales ex­pe­ri­ence in chan­nel-sell­ing, in­sti­tu­tional sell­ing in B2B and B2C sce­nar­ios. We hire en­gi­neer­ing grad­u­ates for ser­vice roles in busi­nesses like health­care, print­ing and dig­i­tal cam­eras. We have also been hir­ing man­age­ment grad­u­ates from pre­mium b-schools for var­i­ous lines of busi­nesses

Do you check a can­di­date’s so­cial me­dia pro­file when hir­ing?

Yes. De­pend­ing on the role for which the can­di­date is hired, we go through LinkedIn to get an idea about opin­ion of peers, friends, subor­di­nates and se­niors

What’s unique about your ap­praisal sys­tem?

Ours is a com­pe­ten­cy­based unique ap­praisal sys­tem called PACE. It ap­praises KRAs along with com­pe­ten­cies for our em­ploy­ees. It’s a con­tin­u­ous ap­praisal wherein em­ploy­ees are ap­praised against a scale of 1 to 50

Yes, we are hir­ing for var­i­ous skillsets in the sales, ser­vice, fi­nance and sup­ply chain do­mains

We have good em­ploy­ee­ori­ented poli­cies. We of­fer yearly med­i­cal check-ups for our em­ploy­ees at the com­pany’s cost. It is manda­tory for em­ploy­ees to un­dergo th­ese check­ups. An MBA in HRM from Sym­bio­sis In­sti­tute, Ba­tra has ear­lier worked with com­pa­nies like Bharti-Air­tel and Usha In­ter­na­tional where he suc­ceeded in han­dling a large work­force.
