Vishal was in news for all wrong reasons
CHANDIGARH: Vishal, an accused in the murder case of Dr Kaura, remained in news for all the wrong reasons at the PGI.
The 36-year-old JE at the PGI used to work with a private telephone operator before joining the PGI in late 1990s.
He rose in his career at the institute allegedly because of his close liaison with top officials. He came into contact with the officials when the institute was in process of upgrading its internal telephone exchange.
According to sources in the PGI'S engineering department, he first joined as hospital attendant. In 2001, he was selected for the post of junior engineer in the telephone exchange as he had the required qualification.
In the PGI, Vishal allegedly would tap landline phones of various top officials of the institute on the directions of one of the senior officials of Nehru Hospital.
Sources said in recent years many complaints were lodged against him for deliberately damaging the telephone exchange by tampering with the attendant consoles in the PGI'S private branch exchange.
On Friday morning, Vishal's wife approached the PGI security department, complaining that he had not come back home since Thursday evening.
When the PGI security department officials accompanied her to the police post, they came to know that he had been arrested for Dr Kaura's murder.
