Annual sports week at Banyan Tree concludes
■ CHANDIGARH: The annual sports week of Banyan Tree School (BTS) concluded at its premises in Sector 48 here on Friday, where Haryana Financial commissioner VS Kundu was the chief guest and Gurjit Singh Oberio, renowned businessman, presided over the function.
Addressing the crowd, Kundu praised efforts of the school management, including director Ravinder Talwar, for organising such function.
"I can see the students brimming with enthusiasm and taking part in various games and cultural activities. The school is providing good infrastructure to the sportspersons for training. The students must strive hard to give their 100% whether participating in sports or academies."
The programme started with reciting of shloks. Athletic and cultural programmes followed it.
The students of junior wing participated in bunny race, lemon and spoon race, threelegged race and sack race.
The seniors took part in the
■ 400, 200 and 100-meter races, slow cycling and chatty race.
Little children dancing on tunes of Dr Jones mesmerised the audience. While, the seniors performed Bhnagra and gidda in the grand finale of the programme.

The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the chief guest handed over prizes to the meritorious students.
Vidushi Rawat of Class 4, who has won 14 gold medals at the state-level skating competitions, was honoured in absentia, as she has gone to represent Chandigarh in the National championship.
Wicketkeeper Shine Sharma, who has been selected by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for Specialised Academy in Chennai, tennis players Kabir Manrai and Taranbir Singh Oberio were among those presented medals. Teachers and staff members were also felicitated with cash incentives.
