Panchkula boys win cre­ativ­ity olympiad

■ PANCHKULA: Three boys won ac­co­lades at School Ex­cel­lence Awards at IIT, New Delhi, on Fri­day and did the town proud.

Shreyas Chand­gothia, a res­i­dent of Panchkula, was ranked first in the National Cre­ativ­ity Olympiad held at the IIT.

The awards cer­e­mony was held at the IIT cam­pus, New Delhi, as part of the sem­i­nar on Ex­cel­lence in School Ed­u­ca­tion or­gan­ised by EduEx­cel­lence, NGO at New Delhi.

Edu-ex­cel­lence CEO Lalit Jomwal awarded Shreyas with the cash prize of Rs 25,000.

Suyash Singh and Kashish Jain, both also res­i­dents of Panchkula, were de­clared sec­ond for classes 6 and 8 cat­e­gories, re­spec­tively.

They re­ceived a cash prize of Rs 15,000 each. All three are stu­dents of St Kabir Pub­lic School, Sec­tor 26, Chandi­garh.

achieve­ments by the school.

The School Ex­cel­lence Awards were con­ducted all over the coun­try for stu­dents of classes 6 to 11. Nearly 60,000 stu­dents par­tic­i­pated in the first round.

Two top­pers from each class were se­lected for the sec­ond round where the con­tes­tants were tested on 60 ob­jec­tive and sub­jec­tive ques­tions.

The olympiad is de­signed to as­sess a child's creative abil­i­ties and achieve­ment mo­ti­va­tion which is used to judge stu­dents on var­i­ous pa­ram­e­ters.
