Speed­ing truck rams into Shimla-bound bus; 11 hurt

■ CHANDI­GARH: A speed­ing truck rammed into a Shimla-bound Hi­machal Road Trans­port Cor­po­ra­tion bus in the wee hours of Fri­day and in­jured 11 pas­sen­gers with one of them sus­tain­ing se­ri­ous in­juries.

The ac­ci­dent took place around 4am at the rail­way light point here. The truck rammed into the bus from the right side and pas­sen­gers mostly suf­fered in­juries due to the break­ing of win­dows.

In­spec­tor Ra­jesh Shukla, the sta­tion house of­fi­cer of Man­i­ma­jra po­lice sta­tion, said Manoj Ku­mar, a man from Kan­gra in Hi­machal Pradesh suf­fered se­ri­ous in­juries.

He is un­der­go­ing treat­ment at the Govern­ment Mul­tispe­cial­ity

The po­lice have reg­is­tered a case of rash and neg­li­gent driv­ing against truck driver Ajaib Singh. He had fled from the spot af­ter the ac­ci­dent, but was ar­rested in the evening.

The bus with the reg­is­tra­tion num­ber HP 03 B 6042 was on its way from Harid­war.
