GMSSS-26 can­ter to com­fort­able win

■ CHANDI­GARH: Govern­ment Model Se­nior Sec­ondary School-26 de­feated hosts St John’s High School-26 Blue team by eight wick­ets in the 14th Blessed Ed­mund Rice Cricket Tour­na­ment for un­der-17 at St John’s-26 on Fri­day.

Bat­ting first, St John's-26 could only man­age 93 runs for the loss of seven wick­ets in 20 overs. Skip­per Kar­tavya Sharma played a good knock and was the high­est scorer for the team with 28 runs.

Pawan scored 22 runs. For GMSSS26, Par­shant picked up two wick­ets. Chas­ing, GMSSS-26 over­hauled the tar­get in 13.2 overs mak­ing 95 runs for the loss of two wick­ets.

Deepak scored an un­beaten 26, while Anish scored 20 runs in the win.

In the sec­ond match, the St John's Red team man­aged to reg­is­ter a seven wick­ets win over Mil­len­nium School.

Bat­ting first, Mil­len­nium School could only score 90 runs for the loss of four wick­ets in 20 overs. Ab­hishek scored 25 runs, while Manyu made 23 runs. Di­pankar picked up two wick­ets for St John's-26. Chas­ing, St John's26 over­hauled the tar­get, mak­ing 91 runs for the loss of four wick­ets in 13.2 overs. Shubran­shu made 28 runs, while Te­jas scored 24 runs.
