Three main reasons

Hindustan Times (Chandigarh) - Live - - OPINION/EDUCATION - MPS Chadha,

The chaotic road scenario in the City Beautiful, resulting in ever-increasing accidents, is primarily due to three main reasons, firstly the roads layout is not conducive/effective to cope with too modernised cars/vehicles, secondly the immaturity of public driving such vehicles and thirdly lack of vision amongst traffic enforcement staff. On observing no traffic enforcement staff around, the majority of people skip rules and regulations. Absence of attention and sincerity amongst traffic police is aggravating the road mishaps dearly. Inculcation of safe driving spirits amongst public is more important than mere challaning. There is no check on high speed, highbeam lights, wrong over-takings, zig-zag troublesome driving on busy city roads, smoking and mobile listening during driving or nuisance created by VIP escort vehicles, which often result in fatal accidents.
