Reduce use of cars

Hindustan Times (Chandigarh) - Live - - OPINION/EDUCATION - TR Goyal,

Rising number of road accidents in last years, is a matter of serious concern and majority of these relate to car mishaps. Main reason of road accidents is congestion of cars, the quantity of which perhaps, is the highest in the world. Everyone suffering from false prestige and ego wants to travel in his own car. They think it below dignity to travel or go to work in public transport or share accommodation. Unless the citizens are asked to reduce the usage of cars, the problem cannot be solved. They should be motivated to make use of public transport. It should be strengthened and made popular to share car accommodation with others in the locality. To make roads safer, the administration should construct underpasses at strategic crossings to minimize traffic chaos.
