Ro­tary Vo­ca­tional Award con­ferred on five

■ CHANDI­GARH: The Ro­tary Club of Chandi­garh on Mon­day con­ferred the Ro­tary Vo­ca­tional Award on five city res­i­dents for go­ing out of way to serve peo­ple. Among the five re­cip­i­ents is Mukhtiar Gill, an as­sis­tant nurs­ing su­per­in­ten­dent at the PGI for the past 24 years. Be­sides her rou­tine du­ties, she had been han­dling the op­er­a­tion theatre ad­min­is­tra­tion to en­sure ef­fi­cient pa­tient care.

Pawan Sharma, spe­cial cor­re­spon­dent, Hin­dus­tan Times, got the award in recog­ni­tion of his ex­em­plary ded­i­ca­tion, pro­fes­sional ex­cel­lence and up­right­ness in re­port­ing is­sues of public in­ter­est. An­other re­cip­i­ent, Ram Lub­haya, as­sis­tant subin­spec­tor of the Chandi­garh Po­lice, solved var­i­ous dif­fi­cult cases and had al­ways been at the fore­front to en­sure safety of the cit­i­zens.

RK Sharma, range for­est of­fi­cer of the forests and wildlife depart­ment, UT, was the fourth awardee. He was awarded for his con­tri­bu­tion in en­vi­ron­ment pro­tec­tion.

Cha­ran­jit Kaur, a phys­i­cal train­ing in­struc­tor at Gov­ern­ment Model Se­nior Sec­ondary School, Sec­toe 10, was also awarded.
