Rotary Vocational Award conferred on five
■ CHANDIGARH: The Rotary Club of Chandigarh on Monday conferred the Rotary Vocational Award on five city residents for going out of way to serve people. Among the five recipients is Mukhtiar Gill, an assistant nursing superintendent at the PGI for the past 24 years. Besides her routine duties, she had been handling the operation theatre administration to ensure efficient patient care.
Pawan Sharma, special correspondent, Hindustan Times, got the award in recognition of his exemplary dedication, professional excellence and uprightness in reporting issues of public interest. Another recipient, Ram Lubhaya, assistant subinspector of the Chandigarh Police, solved various difficult cases and had always been at the forefront to ensure safety of the citizens.
RK Sharma, range forest officer of the forests and wildlife department, UT, was the fourth awardee. He was awarded for his contribution in environment protection.
Charanjit Kaur, a physical training instructor at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sectoe 10, was also awarded.
