CHANDIGARH: Beware if you jump the red light. For the UT traffic police have now decided to catch hold of the traffic violator by chasing him.

Elaborating about the new idea, SP (traffic) Maneesh Chaudhary said the traffic police motorcycles would not remain stationary any more. They would now chase the violators as soon as they notice any glaring violation. He added the traffic police had 20 motorcycles at its disposal. "These vehicles will be pressed into service for challaning the traffic violators."

He added that the police personnel have been asked to note down the registration number of a vehicle in case the vehicle does not stop.

On Tuesday, Chaudhary inspected all these vehicles.

Even though CCTV cameras are installed, they fail to capture the registration numbers.

Meanwhile, the Chandigarh traffic police prepared 20,000 pamphlets creating awareness on black films.
