3 snatch­ings in last 24 hrs in city

CHANDI­GARH: Even though the UT po­lice claim there is a dip in the crime in­ci­dents across the tric­ity, three snatch­ings have been re­ported in the last 24 hours from near the Sec­tor-39 po­lice sta­tion.

In the first case, Rak­sha Rani, a res­i­dent of Sec­tor 39, al­leged that an uniden­ti­fied per­son on a scooter sped away af­ter snatch­ing her gold ear­ring on Tues­day.

In an­other case, Cha­ran­jit Kaur, a res­i­dent of Sec­tor 40, re­ported that two uniden­ti­fied per­sons on a mo­tor­cy­cle sped away af­ter snatch­ing her gold ear­ring near the light point of Sec­tor 38 West on Wed­nes­day.

Mean­while, Mehar Kaur, a res­i­dent of Sec­tor 39-C, re­ported that two uniden­ti­fied per­sons on a mo­tor­cy­cle sped away af­ter snatch­ing her gold ear­ring near the park of Gov­ern­ment Se­nior Sec­ondary School at Sec­tor 39.

The po­lice have reg­is­tered sep­a­rate cases in all three in­ci­dents un­der sec­tions 356 and 379 of the IPC at the Sec­tor-39 po­lice sta­tion. A po­lice of­fi­cer look­ing into the case said it looks like a hand­i­work of one per­son only.
