‘Need to en­gage stu­dents in fac­ulty de­vel­op­ment’

SAS NA­GAR: A seven-day fac­ulty de­vel­op­ment pro­gramme on ad­vances in ma­te­ri­als and man­u­fac­tur­ing tech­nol­ogy kicked off at Sha­heed Ud­ham Singh Col­lege of En­gi­neer­ing and Tech­nol­ogy at Tan­gori near here on Tues­day.

JS Dhali­wal, chan­cel­lor of Guru Kashi Univer­sity, Tal­wandi Sabo, in­au­gu­rated the pro­gramme, which is spon­sored by Pun­jab Tech­ni­cal Univer­sity, Jalandhar.

In his key­note ad­dress, Dhali­wal ad­vised the in­au­gu­ra­tion com­mit­tee that these pro­grammes should not to be limited to fac­ulty mem­bers, but stu­dents should also par­tic­i­pate in this pro­gramme, so that the gap be­tween the teacher and stu­dent should be prop­erly filled.

In his lec­ture, DS Hira, vicechan­cel­lor of Guru Kashi Univer­sity, stressed upon the need of the fac­ulty de­vel­op­ment pro­grammes, so that they should be­come role model for fu­ture gen­er­a­tion. FANCY DRESS CON­TEST HELD AT SHIVA­LIK

An in­ter-sec­tion fancy dress com­pe­ti­tion of Class 1 was or­gan­ised at Shiva­lik Public School, Phase 6, here. In which the stu­dents came dressed up as Bha­gat Singh, Prat­i­bha Patil, Mother Teresa, Laxhmi Bai, Ma­hatma Gandhi. Some were dressed up to con­vey mes­sages like 'save mother earth', 'save the girl child' and 'save water'.
