Youth ac­quit­ted of rape charges

PANCHKULA: The court of ses­sions judge Anita Chaud­hary on Wed­nes­day ac­quit­ted 21year-old Surinder Kumar of rape charges.

He was ac­cused of rap­ing a ‘mi­nor’ girl.

The girl had al­leged that when she came out of her ma­ter­nal un­cle’s house in Kalka on the in­ter­ven­ing night of Oc­to­ber 4 and Oc­to­ber 5, Surinder ab­ducted him by forc­ing her to in­hale some in­tox­i­cant. Later, he al­legedly raped her.

Af­ter the crime, as per the al­le­ga­tions, he threat­ened her to marry him oth­er­wise he would de­fame her.

The girl was re­cov­ered from Gur­gaon where both were stay­ing in a rented accommodation.

A case un­der sec­tions 376 (rape), 366 (kid­nap­ping) and 366 (com­pelling woman to marry) was reg­is­tered against Surinder.

Ad­vo­cate Ka­mal Joshi, who ap­peared for Surinder, said, “We have proved that the girl went with my client on her con­sent. The wit­nesses sup­ported our case and my client has been ac­quit­ted of the rape charge.”
