Intl Youth Peace Fes­ti­val be­gins

CHANDI­GARH: The In­ter­na­tional Youth Peace Fes­ti­val be­gan on Fri­day at Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma Col­lege ( GGDSD) here.

The first day of the fes­ti­val started with an in­au­gu­ral ad­dress by Swami Anu­pama Anand of the Rama Kr­ishna Mis­sion Ashram at GGD SD Col­lege.

The first half of the day was re­served for Pun­jabi ex­pe­ri­ence for in­ter­na­tional guests.

S i x g i rl s a n d b oy s from China, Afghanistan, Philippines and Sri Lanka, dressed as brides and bride­grooms, along with 100 other in­ter­na­tional guests, reached Sarang­pur where they were re­ceived by the gram pan­chayat.

Later, as a wed­ding pro­ces­sion they took a round of the vil­lage and en­joyed bhangra danc­ing, sar­son ka saag and makki ki roti.

Pun­jab and Haryana High Court jus­tice Ra­jesh Bin­dal; com­mis­sioner, cus­toms and cen­tral ex­cise Anil Gupta; and di­rec­tor, depart­ment of sci­ence and tech­nol­ogy, UT, San­tosh Ku­mar were also present on the oc­ca­sion.

A del­e­ga­tion from Spain en­thralled the au­di­ence with it scin­ti­lat­ing dance per­for­mance. More than 500 del­e­gates from 45 coun­tries are at­tend­ing the event
