Unidentified woman run over by train CHANDIGARH: A 22-year-old unidentified woman was run over by the Superfast Intercity Express while she was crossing the railway line near Sector 47 here on Friday morning. The railway officials have sent the body to the general hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police are yet to ascertain the identity of the woman and efforts are on to track her family. Mayor launches anti-rabies vaccine at subsidised rates CHANDIGARH: Mayor Raj Bala Malik on Friday launched anti-rabies vaccine at subsidised rates for dog-bite victims at the civil dispensary of Sector 19-A. A special programme was organised at the dispensary in this regard wherein dog-bite victims were offered flowers and juice by the mayor and commissioner. The mayor said according to the decision taken in the general house meeting, the municipal corporation would give 80% subsidy to dog-bite victims and rest 20% vaccination charges would be borne by the victims. Medical officer of health BK Salwan informed that the timings of vaccination would be 8am to 1pm during summer and 9am to 2pm during winter. 20 condemned buses auctioned CHANDIGARH: In the second round of the open auction on Friday, the auction committee constituted by the Chandigarh administration auctioned 20 condemned buses of depot no. 3. These buses were 2000-2001 models and had lived their life. The auction fetched Rs 4,596,500. With the auction of these buses, a large amount of space that was occupied by the condemned buses has been cleared. Auction was held in a transparent manner and proceedings were recorded.
