SAS NAGAR: Two unidentified men tried to loot an employee of a private telecom company by throwing chilly powder in his eyes.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon near the phase 7 scooter market here.

Ram told the police that he was on his way to deposit Rs 30,000 in a State Bank of Patiala branch when two motorcycleborne men stopped near him near the scooter market.

One of the men got down and asked him the way to Sector 70. Ram said while he was directing him the way, the man threw chilly powder in his eyes. He said he somehow held onto the bag containing cash, and cried for help.

Meanwhile, the accused managed to flee the spot.

Ashish Kumar, the manager of the private firm and Ram’s employer, said this was the second attempt to rob his employee. He said a few men had tried to loot him earlier as well.
