Powercom JE held for taking bribe
SAS NAGAR: The vigilance bureau on Friday arrested a junior engineer (JE) of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) posted at Kharar while accepting illegal gratification for shifting a transformer.
The accused has been identified as Baljeet Singh. He was booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act on the complaint of Gagandeep, a resident of Phase 7 in SAS Nagar, who alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 to shift a transformer.
In his complaint, Gagandeep alleged that he owned land in Janjheri village and was constructing few shops on it, but as there was a transformer nearby so he urged the department to shift it.
Gagandeep alleged that to get the transformer shifted Baljeet Singh demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 even when he had paid all requisite fee and completed all formalities.
Acting on the complaint, the vigilance team laid a trap and nabbed Baljeet when he came to accept the money from Gagandeep.
The accused will be produced in court on Saturday.
