Memoirs of a dark hole
We Rock pythons love dark holes! Snake rescuers exploit this weakness of our tribe by placing a dark box in front of us. We go right in without thinking a second and later hear the box clang shut on our new prison. Well, this time, I really went wrong. One night, I got marooned in the toilet of the Kendriya Vidalya situated in the Udaipur cantonment, Rajasthan. I tried to climb out from the roof but instead broke the tubelight. Next morning, when the staff came to investigate the shattered tubelight, they found me. They called in a famous snake-catcher, Chaman Singh Chauhan, to capture me. When Chauhan arrived and poked a stick at me, I jumped down and found a dark hole. I thought I would make good my escape and outwit this Chauhan fellow, who claims to have nabbed 20,000 snakes. I plunged right in head first. Alas, it was the shithole in the Indian-style toilet! The agile Chauhan pounced on me and managed to grab my vanishing tail. As I tugged to go deeper, Chauhan tied a rope around my tail and fastened it to the tap. From outside, they opened the toilet drain and poked a stick right up my face. I struggled but what could I do against the might of the Indian Army as its jawans joined Chauhan in this unfair tugof-war. I was soon pulled out, the full seven glorious feet of me smeared with human shit!
The python in the loo.
