Bawa, Prashar give Chandi­garh edge

CHANDI­GARH: Led by cen­turies from Sim­rat Bawa and Amit Prashar, Chandi­garh se­cured first in­nings lead of 115 runs against hosts Pa­tiala in the fi­nal of the Pun­jab In­ter-Dis­trict Cricket Tour­na­ment for Ka­toch Shield at the Dhruv Pan­dove Sta­dium on Satur­day.

Re­sum­ing at 191 for 2, Chandi­garh bats­men con­tin­ued the as­sault on Pa­tiala bowlers. Bawa was out for the in­di­vid­ual score of 102 off 237 balls, in­clu­sive of 10 fours and one six.

Bawa and Walia took the to­tal to 234 be­fore the for­mer was trapped in front by Ra­jwinder Singh.

Later Walia and Prashar rubbed salt into the Pa­tiala wounds by stitch­ing quick fire 94 runs for the fourth wicket.

Prashar went on to com­plete his cen­tury and was un­beaten on 111 at the end of the day’s play.

Spin­ner Ra­jwinder was the pick of the bowlers for Pa­tiala and fin­ished with 3 for 111.

Robin Dhillion and Ravi Inder Singh picked up one wicket apiece for 72 and 24 runs, re­spec­tively.
