Bawa, Prashar give Chandigarh edge
CHANDIGARH: Led by centuries from Simrat Bawa and Amit Prashar, Chandigarh secured first innings lead of 115 runs against hosts Patiala in the final of the Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Katoch Shield at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium on Saturday.
Resuming at 191 for 2, Chandigarh batsmen continued the assault on Patiala bowlers. Bawa was out for the individual score of 102 off 237 balls, inclusive of 10 fours and one six.
Bawa and Walia took the total to 234 before the former was trapped in front by Rajwinder Singh.
Later Walia and Prashar rubbed salt into the Patiala wounds by stitching quick fire 94 runs for the fourth wicket.
Prashar went on to complete his century and was unbeaten on 111 at the end of the day’s play.
Spinner Rajwinder was the pick of the bowlers for Patiala and finished with 3 for 111.
Robin Dhillion and Ravi Inder Singh picked up one wicket apiece for 72 and 24 runs, respectively.
