PROFILES OF ACQUITTED PERSONS
Ghulam Ahmed Mir: Sitting Jammu and Kashmir MLA and former state minister, he was accused by two women of exploiting them. One of the women said he exploited her after she met him to get her husband acquitted of charges of absconding terrorist. The other woman accused Mir of forced sex in lieu of a job. He was charged under Section 5 (procuring, inducing person for sale for the purpose of prostitution) of PITA.
Raman Mattoo: A former Jammu and Kashmir minister, he was accused of sexually exploiting girls when they approached him for jobs. He was also charged under Section 5 of PITA. Iqbal Khandey: Principal secretary (planning) now under suspension, he was also charged under Section 5 of PITA.
Sabeena: Alleged to be kingpin of the scandal, she was charged with forcing girls into prostitution and supplying them to politicians and police officials. Allegedly running a brothel from Srinagar house, she was charged under Sections 3 and 5 of PITA and 120-B.
Abdul Hamid: Sabeena’s husband, he was accused of allegedly forcing girls into prostitution and supplying them. He was charged under Sections 3, 4, 5 and Section 120-B read with Section 376 of Ranbir Penal Code.
