R30lakh jewellery theft case solved; one held
PANCHKULA: The police claimed to have solved the case of theft of jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh from a shop in Sector 7 on Saturday. The theft had taken place on November 28.
The suspect in the case, Dharmender alias Dhamma, who committed the theft was produced in the district courts on Saturday and remand of 10 days was sought. However, the court allowed a four-day remand only. The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) also sought permission for using handcuffs for the suspect, which was allowed by the court.
“Dharmender committed theft at the jewellery shop in Sector 7. He sold the silver to two people in Mauli Jagran and the jewellery has been recovered from them. We are suspecting his involvement in other incidents of crime as well,” said inspector Chatar Singh, CIA in-charge.
