R30lakh jew­ellery theft case solved; one held

PANCHKULA: The po­lice claimed to have solved the case of theft of jew­ellery worth Rs 30 lakh from a shop in Sec­tor 7 on Satur­day. The theft had taken place on Novem­ber 28.

The sus­pect in the case, Dhar­mender alias Dhamma, who com­mit­ted the theft was pro­duced in the district courts on Satur­day and re­mand of 10 days was sought. How­ever, the court al­lowed a four-day re­mand only. The Crime In­ves­ti­ga­tion Agency (CIA) also sought per­mis­sion for us­ing hand­cuffs for the sus­pect, which was al­lowed by the court.

“Dhar­mender com­mit­ted theft at the jew­ellery shop in Sec­tor 7. He sold the sil­ver to two peo­ple in Mauli Ja­gran and the jew­ellery has been re­cov­ered from them. We are sus­pect­ing his involvement in other in­ci­dents of crime as well,” said in­spec­tor Chatar Singh, CIA in-charge.
