No par­ty­ing in SAS Na­gar af­ter 12:30 am, or­ders DC

SAS Na­gar: With the town gear­ing up for the New Year eve cel­e­bra­tions, the SAS ad­min­is­tra­tion and po­lice have also made ad­e­quate se­cu­rity ar­range­ments to main­tain law and or­der.

As per the di­rec­tives of SAS Na­gar deputy com­mis­sioner Varun Roo­jam, ho­tels, clubs, restau­rants and mar­riage places will not be al­lowed to con­tinue with New Year eve par­ties af­ter 12.30 am.

The di­rec­tive has been is­sued to en­sure that no law and or­der sit­u­a­tion arises.

Speak­ing to HT, Roo­jam said: "Par­ties will not be al­lowed to con­tinue be­yond 12.30 am. Apart from this, we have also banned car­ry­ing of arms to en­sure safety." He added that own­ers of ho­tels and restau­rants will have to take per­mis­sion from the SDM to host par­ties.

"Hooli­gan­ism will not be tol­er­ated. We have di­vided the en­tire district in sec­tors and sub-sec­tors. Each sub­sec­tor is un­der the con­trol of a sta­tion house of­fi­cer, while sec­tors will be su­per­vised by DSPs," said SAS Na­gar se­nior su­per­in­ten­dent of po­lice Gur­preet Singh Bhullar. He added that: "In case of any in­ci­dent of eveteas­ing, hooli­gan­ism or any other law and or­der sit­u­a­tion, the of­fi­cer con­cerned will be held re­spon­si­ble." CHECK ON UN­DER­AGE DRINK­ING

In or­der to keep tabs on un­der­age drink­ing dur­ing the New Year cel­e­bra­tions, SAS Na­gar deputy com­mis­sioner Varun Roo­jam had di­rected the ex­cise de­part­ment teams to keep a strict check.

As per an or­der, teams of the ex­cise de­part­ment ac­com­pa­nied by po­lice would en­sure that ban on sale of liquor to any­one be­low 25 years of age is ad­hered to. There is also a ban on serv­ing of liquor to those be­low 25 years of age.
