Im­ple­ment master plan

The UT ad­min­is­tra­tion has pro­posed a devel­op­ment plan within 50 km ra­dius of the city so as to lessen the in­fra­struc­ture load on the city due to tremen­dous pres­sure of in­crease in pop­u­la­tion, traf­fic con­ges­tion, build­ing vi­o­la­tion, stress on in­fra­struc­ture, lim­ited avail­abil­ity of land and hap­haz­ard growth of unau­tho­rized oc­cu­pant on the pe­riph­ery of Mo­hali, Chandigarh, panchkula.

Also, the city wants to de­velop a Metro sta­tion with com­mon in­ter­na­tional air­port and rail­way sta­tion, which is al­ready burst­ing at its seams. The master plan com­mit­tee has pro­posed planned devel­op­ment and bet­ter con­nec­tiv­ity be­tween Zirakpur, Der­abassi, Ba­nur, Lan­dran, Ram­garh, Pin­jore and Kalka be­side Chandigarh, Mo­hali and Panchkula and also men­tioned to sub­mit report by the ad­min­is­tra­tion to the Min­istry of Home Af­fair for joint re­gional area. There is an im­me­di­ate need to con­sti­tute joint ad­min­is­tra­tive com­mit­tee and joint plan­ning com­mis­sion of Union Ter­ri­tory Chandigarh, Mo­hali and Panchkula and de­clare it as spe­cial re­gional zone un­der new act to frame com­mon rules and reg­u­la­tion in re­spect to law and or­der, traf­fic con­trol and laws.
