Effective admin a must

Hindustan Times (Chandigarh) - Live - - OPINION/EDUCATION -

The government of Chandigarh needs to resolute and deliver responsibility. Giant leaps have to be taken in field of effective administration, policing, law and order. Starting with keeping city free from litter and garbage. Civic authorities along with welfare associations have to construct plans to recycle the rubbish. The 2013 should be Dengue and Malaria free. Government should endeavour to provide housing to slum dwellers and cut down the pollution levels in summer. Also, it should enforce a ban on the use of generators in residential areas. To regulate traffic, the authorities should adapt comprehensive written and practical driving test, which should be made an important criteria to qualify for attaining a driving licence. Police should work with resident welfare associations and introduce licensed community policing. Community policing should be effectively used in public places, around schools and colleges. Roadside liquor shops should be shut down. Administration has to come up with visible implementation on streets and not in news. Anuraj Oberoi
