Teen alleges rape by 40-yr-old
HT Correspondent PANCHKULA: A 13-year-old girl of Beed Ghaggar village near here on Friday alleged that she was abducted by a 40-year-old man and then raped by him for two days.
The accused, Chandigarh resident Neeraj, has been arrested. He had allegedly abducted the victim when she was returning from school on Tuesday, and taken her to places in Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.
After the victim’s disappearance, Chandimandir police had registered an FIR under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 A (procreation of girl) of the Indian Penal Code on Wednesday. Police are yet to add the section of rape to the FIR, as the victim has not recorded her statement before a magistrate. The allegations were levelled by the victim before mediapersons.
On Friday, residents of Beed Ghaggar village themselves tracked Neeraj and the victim to a house in Sector 39. They rescued the girl, and nabbed and handed over Neeraj to Chandimandir police.
“The medical of the girl has been conducted. We are yet to record her statement, as when she took her for recording her statement before a magistrate, she said she needed more time. The statement is going be recorded under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code,” said insepctor Jai Prakash, the SHO of Chandimandir police.
This the third incident of rape reported in the district, in the past four days. On Tuesday, a 14-year-old had alleged rape. The accused is yet to be arrested in the case. A day later on Wednesday, a 50-year-old man was arrested for raping a 52-year-old woman.
