Drive against drug trade: 28 cases reg­is­tered in Rupnagar

RUPNAGAR: In its spe­cial drive to put an em­bargo on drug trade in the district, the Rupnagar po­lice have reg­is­tered 28 cases of drug traf­fick­ing. The po­lice have also seized large quan­tity of in­tox­i­cants in the drive, which com­menced from Au­gust 27.

Ac­cord­ing to Rupnagar SSP In­der Mo­han Singh, the po­lice, keep­ing in view the di­rec­tions of the Pun­jab gov­ern­ment, had started a spe­cial cam­paign against drug traf­fick­ing in state from Au­gust 27. He said the cam­paign yielded good re­sults and 28 cases were reg­is­tered from var­i­ous po­lice sta­tions, in­clud­ing Nan­gal, Chamkaur Sahib, Ki­rat­pur Sahib, Anand­pur Sahib, Rupnagar Sadar, Nur­pur Bedi, Singh Bhag­want­pur and Morinda. He added that 29 per­sons were ar­rested in this re­gard.

He fur­ther said that the po­lice seized var­i­ous in­tox­i­cants, in­clud­ing 1,225-gm charas, 16-gm heroin, 7,195 tablets, 510 cap­sules, 22-gm smack, 1.5-kg poppy husk, 1-kg opium, 1,890gm nar­cotic pow­der and 12,000 ML liq­uid.
