Drive against drug trade: 28 cases registered in Rupnagar
RUPNAGAR: In its special drive to put an embargo on drug trade in the district, the Rupnagar police have registered 28 cases of drug trafficking. The police have also seized large quantity of intoxicants in the drive, which commenced from August 27.
According to Rupnagar SSP Inder Mohan Singh, the police, keeping in view the directions of the Punjab government, had started a special campaign against drug trafficking in state from August 27. He said the campaign yielded good results and 28 cases were registered from various police stations, including Nangal, Chamkaur Sahib, Kiratpur Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, Rupnagar Sadar, Nurpur Bedi, Singh Bhagwantpur and Morinda. He added that 29 persons were arrested in this regard.
He further said that the police seized various intoxicants, including 1,225-gm charas, 16-gm heroin, 7,195 tablets, 510 capsules, 22-gm smack, 1.5-kg poppy husk, 1-kg opium, 1,890gm narcotic powder and 12,000 ML liquid.
