AAP to ask some leaders to anchor polls, not contest

-

NEW DELHI: Some senior leaders in the Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) might not contest assembly polls next year.

Sources said the party leadership is getting round to the view that senior leaders will have to lead and strategise the campaign instead of contesting themselves.

The party is likely to come out with its first list of candidates in two-to-three days, but unlikely to have any big names in it, a senior leader said.

Some of the big names likely to be asked to anchor the polls include Punjab AAP convenor Succha Singh Chhotepur, two party MPs Bhagwant Singh Mann and Sadhu Singh.
