HC re­jects min­is­ter’s plea, says ideal for him to quit

THIRU­VANAN­THA­PU­RAM: The Ker­ala high court on Tues­day re­jected state trans­port min­is­ter Thomas Chandy’s plea to quash the Alap­puzha district col­lec­tor’s re­port on land-grab­bing charges against him and ques­tioned his con­tin­u­ance in the gov­ern­ment. A di­vi­sion bench of the court, com­pris­ing jus­tice PN Raveen­dran and jus­tice De­van Ra­machan­dran, said it is ideal for Chandy to quit as he ques­tioned the col­lec­tive re­spon­si­bil­ity of the gov­ern­ment. Chandy is cling­ing on to power cit­ing tech­ni­cal­i­ties.
