Debtridden farmer, labourer commit suicide
BATHINDA: A farmer and a labourer, both reportedly facing a tough financial condition due to debt, committed suicide in two villages of this district, police said on Tuesday. The farmer, Jagjit Singh, 46, of Jhanduke committed suicide by consuming poison on Monday. He owned four acres and was under a debt of Rs 8 lakh from banks and lenders. The labourer, Hakam Singh, 35, of Chak Bakhtu village near Bhucho also consumed poison, on Sunday. Police said his family stated that he was stressed due to poor financial condition.
