Sirsa urges Hry CM to include chapters on Sikh guru in syllabus
CHANDIGARH: Legislator and Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Tuesday urged Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar to include chapters on Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in the education syllabus of the state.
In a letter written to Khattar, Sirsa said he was shocked to know that chapters on Guru Tegh Bahadur have been excluded from school syllabus of the Haryana School Education Board.
He said it has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community as the guru sacrificed his life to save Kashmiri pandits.
Sirsa said it was unfortunate that the decision has come at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered the NCERT and other education boards to include chapters on ‘Chaar Sahibzade’ - Guru Gobind Singh’s four sons - in the syllabus. He urged Khattar to urgently order to include the chapters in the Haryana school syllabus. Sirsa also urged the CM to include a chapter on Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in the education syllabus.
