Jalandhar couple booked for duping man of ₹6.7 lakh

TARN TARAN : The city police on Sunday booked a man and his wife from Jalandhar for allegedly duping Dilbag Singh, a resident of Johal Raju Singh village here, of ₹6.7 lakh on the pretext of sending his son to Australia on work permit.

The accused have been identified as Roshan Lal and his wife Simran, alias Menika.

In his complaint with the police, Dilbag Singh, 55, said he had given ₹6.7 lakh to the duo after they promised to send his son, Davinder Singh, to Australia. “The accused gave him a job offer letter, a visa and an air ticket, all fake. When we came to know about the fraud, we demanded our money back, but the accused didn’t pay any heed to our pleas,” he added.

Assistant sub inspector (ASI) of Doburji police post, Kirpal Singh, said, “The complainan­t had given his complaint to senior superinten­dent of police (SSP), Tarn Taran, Darshan Singh Mann, who marked its inquiry to deputy superinten­dent of police (DSP) Ashvini Kumar.

The DSP , after investigat­ing the matter, took the advice of the district attorney (legal) and got the accused booked under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestl­y inducing delivery of property), 120 B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.”added.
