Firing over land dispute leaves two injured in Batala village

BATALA:TWO persons were injured after they were allegedly attacked by a group of persons with firearms over a land dispute at Marrianwal village here on Monday morning.

In his complaint, the injured, Sunil Garg, a resident of Pahari gate, said he had a dispute with one Kulbir Singh over the possession of 90 marlas of land near Khajana resorts at Marrianwal village.

Though the lower court had given a decision in their favour, but Kulbir Singh had moved the higher court against that decision.

“On Monday afternoon, we got informatio­n that Kulbir Singh, along with his companions, were constructi­ng a wall on that land following which we rushed to the spot,” alleged Sunil.

“When we were clicking pictures of the site, Kulbir Singh, along with his companions, opened fire at us, injuring my brother Rishi and me,” Sunil added.

Kulbir and his companions fled after the residents rushed to the spot.

SHO, civil lines police station, Paramjeet Singh, said a police team had gone to the civil line police station to record the statements of the injured, but they were declared unfit by the doctor.

Paramjeet Singh said that a a case under Section 336 (act endangerin­g life or personal safety of others) of the IPC against unidentifi­ed persons has been registered.
