KARNATAKA’S SEPARATE FLAG UNVEILING IS A GIMMICK

-

The Karnataka government’s unveiling of its state flag is an unethical political gimmick and against national interest. Only Jammu and Kashmir is permitted to have a separate flag and that nod was granted in an entirely different era. Such kinds of demands serve no purpose. Why can’t the state ask the Centre for more funds to tackle suicides of its farmers? We are a country of ‘Unity in Diversity’ and our symbols have to reflect this thought. A true nationalist is hurt at such demands. The judiciary and the centre must see through gimmicks floated, only for parochial political gains. A strong message must go out to the world that India stands under one flag.

Aadil Bhat, Chandigarh sticky first year for Captain Amarinder with little and slow progress on the big promises made in the manifesto. He makes up for his inaccessibility through a coterie style of functioning. However, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) may be out of power, but it is already holding rallies fancily named, ‘Pol Khol’. Amidst all this, Amarinder’s firmness on his ‘No Vendetta’ stance is surprising. Overall, the drug menace has not been fully curbed yet, suicides of farmers continue and debt remains a concern. The silver lining, if any, has been the zero tolerance approach of the Captain on elements wanting to disturb peace.
