CHANDI­GARH: The cab­i­net sub­com­mit­tee for man­ag­ing the land of the lo­cal gov­ern­ment and pan­chay­ati raj de­part­ments on Mon­day sought a de­tailed re­port on the en­croached land.

Pre­sid­ing over the meet­ing, lo­cal bodies min­is­ter Navjot Singh Sidhu said the data per­tain­ing to all gov­ern­ment de­part­ments, whose lands are un­der il­le­gal oc­cu­pa­tion, must be col­lected.

“The con­sol­i­dated re­port of such lands of all de­part­ments be pre­pared and sub­mit­ted in the next meet­ing,” he said.

Fi­nance min­is­ter Man­preet Singh Badal and ru­ral de­vel­op­ment and pan­chay­ats min­is­ter Tript Ra­jin­der Singh Ba­jwa also at­tended the meet­ing.

Sidhu also di­rected of­fi­cials to en­sure that the de­tails of ev­ery gov­ern­ment depart­ment should be in­cluded in the data. Be­sides, the re­port of Jus­tice Kuldeep Singh Com­mis­sion re­gard­ing il­le­gal en­croach­ments should also be pre­sented be­fore the com­mit­tee.

He said be­fore for­mu­lat­ing any pol­icy, it is nec­es­sary to as­cer­tain that how much of the gov­ern­ment land is un­der il­le­gal oc­cu­pa­tion ir­re­spec­tive of the depart­ment. A re­port is to be pre­pared in 15 days. The next meet­ing will be held on May 3.
