CABINET PANEL SEEKS DETAILS OF ENCROACHED GOVT LAND
CHANDIGARH: The cabinet subcommittee for managing the land of the local government and panchayati raj departments on Monday sought a detailed report on the encroached land.
Presiding over the meeting, local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said the data pertaining to all government departments, whose lands are under illegal occupation, must be collected.
“The consolidated report of such lands of all departments be prepared and submitted in the next meeting,” he said.
Finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal and rural development and panchayats minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa also attended the meeting.
Sidhu also directed officials to ensure that the details of every government department should be included in the data. Besides, the report of Justice Kuldeep Singh Commission regarding illegal encroachments should also be presented before the committee.
He said before formulating any policy, it is necessary to ascertain that how much of the government land is under illegal occupation irrespective of the department. A report is to be prepared in 15 days. The next meeting will be held on May 3.
