Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh has expressed concern over the dilution of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. He has also said that he implemented the 85th amendment during his previous tenure by providing for reservation in promotion in government jobs. He has claimed that he would ensure its implementation, while fulfilling the directions of the Punjab and Haryana high court that had struck down provisions providing for accelerated reservations in promotions due to administrative shortcomings. The CM should safeguard interests of all employees. Such statements are just eyecatching, vote-catching ploys, nothing else.
