Arhtiyas, labourers clash with tractortrailer operators

MUKTSAR: Members of the Arhtiya and the Majdoor Unions, on Saturday, clashed with members of the tractor trailer union in Gidderbaha grain market over the rates being charged for lifting of produce. “Tractor trailer operators are demanding Rs 200 for lifting,” claimed Parshotam Lal, president of the Arhtiya Union and Pooran Chand, of the Labourers’ Union. Gursewak Singh, president, Tractor Trailer Union, said, “We are not even offering our services to arthiyas, but only to the inspectors. The allegations are safe.”
