Hindu Ekta Manch leaders booked for blocking minister’s cavalcade
JAMMU:POLICE have registered an FIR against the leaders of Hindu Ekta Manch for leading a group of protesters who obstructed the cavalcade of public health and engineering minister Sham Choudhary on Saturday.
The group has been spearheading the demand of holding the CBI probe into the rape and murder of an eight-year-old tribal girl in Kathua. Senior superintendent of police(ssp), Kathua, Shridhar Patil said, “Police have registered an FIR against the leaders of the mob, inciting them to block the cavalcade of PHE minister.”
The FIR was registered against Hindu Ekta Manch president Vijay Kumar, former sarpanch of Kootah Kant Kumar and Raj Kumar late on Saturday.
Locals protested on national highway with black flags and blocked the cavalcade of PHE minister who was on its way to Kathua for district development board (DDB) meeting.
However, the route of the cavalcade was changed to other side. Minister's car and his security vehicle managed to cross the area but protesters managed to come to the other side and blocked the route of other vehicles of the cavalcade.
Jammu region has been on the edge since this brutal incident came to light. The locals of the Kottah and Rassana and adjoining villages of Hiranagar sub-division are protesting for over three months demanding CBI probe into the case. They have been opposing investigation carried out by local crime branch.
The girl’s body was recovered from Rassana forest in Kathua on January 17, a week after she went missing.
