BANK STRIKE: A NEW PERSPECTIVE
A salary hike of a mere 2% has become a reason for staff at the state-run banks to go on a strike. The management says in times of poor organisational performance and rising Non-performing Assets (NPAS), they could afford only this. In principle, it is a welcome step to link salary hikes to performance, but it should be applicable in all department and across hierarchies. One should know that huge loss to banks due to the rising NPAS is not due to the inefficiency of lower level staff, but because of corruption and greed among toplevel management. The workload of an average bank employee has doubled as banks help in implementation of government schemes.
