Theft at NRI’S house: Three held after six years

BATHINDA: Police have cracked a six-year-old case of theft in the house of a non-resident Indian (NRI) at Lehra Dhurkot village with the arrest of three persons. A stolen gun and gold jewellery have also been recovered from the accused.

The accused have been identified as Jagwinder Singh, Rachhpal Singh and Gurditt Singh, all residents of Barnala. Police have recovered a .12-bore rifle and 24 live cartridges, a .12-bore rifle with two live cartridges and 120gm of gold ornaments.

SP (City) Gurmeet Singh said the accused had committed theft in the house of Ajmer Singh, an NRI, in December 2011. A .12-bore rifle and 24 live cartridges, 200gm gold ornaments, ₹1.65 lakh, 1m100 euros, 1,200 Norwegian krone, 100 Danish krone and 900 British pounds were stolen from the house. A case against unidentifi­ed persons was registered at the Nathana police station. e theft.
