₹1L REWARD FOR INFO ON DOGFIGHT ORGANISERS

CHANDIGARH:THE India chapter of Humane Society Internatio­nal (HSI) on Monday offered a reward of ₹1 lakh to identify people who were planning to organise a dogfight in Faridkot. The invitation for the event was made through posters in Moga and also circulated online on June 15 with an entry fee of ₹500. Animal fights are a punishable offence under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

Based on a complaint by the state veterinary department and the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), an FIR was lodged.

The organisers, whose contact informatio­n was displayed on the posters, are absconding.

The reward was declared for any person with informatio­n that would lead to the identifica­tion, arrest and conviction of the organisers.
