Fight against drugs: Punjab Police to launch drive against POS
CHANDIGARH : Punjab police will launch a drive against proclaimed offenders (POS) of drug cases, including those who had fled the country. The decision was taken on Saturday at a highlevel joint meeting of the antidrug special task force (STF), the intelligence wing and the Bureau of Investigation (BOI). DGP Suresh Arora chaired the meeting.
The meeting, which focused on synergising the efforts of the district police, the intelligence wing and the STF, discussed that drug traffickers from whom heavy recoveries had been effected could be placed under preventive detention. The meeting was informed that a list of such traffickers is in the process of being prepared.
Directions were also given to expedite cases related to the seizure/freezing of property that drug smugglers have acquired through illegal means. It was also proposed to hold a joint meeting on a weekly basis .
