Teach­ers hold protest against ‘forced trans­fers’

AM­RIT­SAR: Teach­ers work­ing un­der Sha­heed Ki­ran­jeet Kaur Ed­u­ca­tion Guar­an­tee (SKKEG), al­ter­na­tive and in­no­va­tive ed­u­ca­tion (AIE) and spe­cial train­ers (STR) scheme staged a protest against ‘forced trans­fers’, here on Satur­day.

The protest was led by Spe­cial Train­ers Teach­ers Union Pun­jab pres­i­dent Goga Rani of Abo­har. The pro­tes­tors and their chil­dren gath­ered at Ram Bagh and or­gan­ised a protest march till ed­u­ca­tion min­is­ter OP Soni’s res­i­dence at Rani Ka Bagh.

The protest­ing teach­ers raised slo­gans against the Pun­jab govern­ment for its ‘an­titeach­ers’ poli­cies. Rani said that the state govern­ment has been trans­fer­ring teach­ers up to 50 kilo­me­ters far from their home towns.
