SAD (A) DISTRICT CHIEF ATTACKED IN LUDHIANA
LUDHIANA: Three persons were booked for allegedly opening fire at the vehicle of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) district president Jaswant Singh Cheema, 50, near Jalandhar bypass here, Ludhiana police said on Saturday.
Cheema was returning from Bhattian village in his Toyota Innova when the incident took place, police added. Cheema told the police that two bike-borne assailants first opened fire at his car and the bullet hit its rear door. “The accused also hit the car with a baseball bat,” he added.
The police have registered a case against Jagjeet Singh Bedi, his brother Ranjeet Singh Bedi and Vipan Kumar under Sections 338, 506 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code. The accused are property dealers.
