NEW DELHI : A 30-year-old ca­ble op­er­a­tor-turned-gang­ster, car­ry­ing a re­ward of Rs 1 lakh on his ar­rest for four cases of mur­der, at­tempts to mur­der, rob­beries and ex­tor­tion, was ar­rested by the Delhi Po­lice’s crime branch on Fri­day. Po­lice said the man is a mem­ber of Nasir gang, a ri­val group of the Ch­henu gang.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied the man as Mo­ham­mad Rashid alias Cable­wala, a res­i­dent of Chauhan Ban­gar in Delhi. Rashid, po­lice said, was de­clared a pro­claimed offender and had pre­vi­ously been in­volved in four cases of mur­ders, cases of at­tempts to mur­der, rob­beries and arms act.

Acp(crime) Ra­jiv Ran­jan said that in April 2017, Rashid and his as­so­ciates had killed Mo­ham­mad Qa­mar and Im­ran in north­east Delhi’s Jafrabad.

Since then Rashid was on the run while all his as­so­ciates had been ar­rested. A re­ward of ₹ 1 lakh was also de­clared on his ar­rest. “A trap was laid on Fri­day fol­low­ing in­put that Rashid would leave In­dia from Delhi air­port. A team spot­ted him at ter­mi­nal 3 and he was ar­rested,” Ran­jan said.
