Sikh Empire general Attariwala remembered

AMRITSAR: Punjab Government celebrated the Sikh general Sardar Sham Singh Attariwala’s 173rd martyrdom day at the Gateway of India (Naraingarh) and Attari Samadh, during a state-level function organised here on Sunday.

Punjab revenue and water resources minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, who presided over the function, announced a grant of ₹5 lakh to Attariwala Trust.

Along with the cabinet minister, local MLA Tarsem Singh, brigadier APS Chahal, deputy commission­er Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, police commission­er S Srivastava, colonel Kuldeep Singh Sidhu, colonel Harinder Singh Attari and general officer commanding western command and Captain Abhishek Shukla paid homage at the bust of martyr Sham Singh Attariwala and police personnel gave gun salute to the great martyr.

Sarkaria said that the great Sham Singh was an icon, who will always be a source of inspiratio­n for everyone.
