Covid-19 tally in J&K mounts to 8,019 with 170 fresh infections, death toll reaches 119

SRINAGAR: The total number of Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir rose to 8019 on Friday with 170 fresh infections, while the death toll reached 119 following the demise of four coronaviru­s patients, officials said.

Four persons, including an 80-year-old man from Srinagar and a 70-year-old man from Baramulla, died due to Covid-19 in the valley.

On Friday, 1,543 samples were tested at SKIMS hospital and 61 people were tested positive including four CRPF jawans.

Whereas, 170 fresh cases were reported from various districts in the Union territory.

Srinagar has witnessed the highest number of deaths at 29 followed by Baramulla 19 and Kulgam 16. On Friday, maximum Covid-19 cases were reported from Srinagar, 41, taking the total cases to 1,062 in the district of which, 624 are active positive cases. Baramulla district has recorded 949 cases of which 518 are active cases. On Friday 101 patients recovered and were discharged from different hospitals of J&K.

So far 5,075 people have recovered after suffering from the virus.

Officials said that 4,85,501 people have been tested in J&K and 2,90,760 people have been enlisted for observatio­n.
