BATHINDA DHO SUSPENDED OVER GRAFT DEMAND

BATHINDA: Following allegation of corruption, the district health officer (DHO) of Bathinda Dr Ramesh Maheshwari was placed under suspension on Tuesday.

Civil surgeon Dr Amrik Singh Sandhu confirmed the suspension of the DHO. The senior health functionary was embroiled in controversy after an audio clip went viral in which Maheshwari was allegedly seeking bribe from shopkeepers. On Sunday, health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu had ordered a probe after Maheshwari was purportedly heard seeking fixed monthly payments from shopkeepers for not taking food samples from their shops.
