390 FRESH INFECTIONS IN UT

SRINAGAR:JAMMU and Kashmir on Tuesday recorded 10 deaths and 390 fresh Covid-19 infections, taking the total number of positive cases in the Union territory to 22,396, officials said.

The recovery rate soared to the highest 66.3% so far after 824 more people were cured and discharged from various hospitals. Active cases in the UT stand at 7,123. A government spokespers­on said 291 people were discharged in Jammu division and 533 in Kashmir. Of the total 14,856 recoveries, 11,683 were cured in Kashmir while 3,173 in Jammu division. Of the new cases, 238 are from Kashmir and 152 from Jammu division. Among these, 48 patients have a travel history. Of 22,396 total number of positive cases in J&K, 4,593 have been reported as travelers, a spokespers­on said.

Officials said 10 more people have succumbed to the disease in Kashmir. With this, the death toll in the UT has risen to 417—387 fatalities in Kashmir and 30 in Jammu division till date. The highest single day spike of 17 deaths was recorded on July 30.

Bandipora, Reasi, Udhampur, Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu districts as orange zones; and Doda and Kishtwar as green zones.

The Lakhanpur containmen­t zone on the National Highway will be a red containmen­t zone with a 500m buffer, the order stated.
