55 QUINTAL POOR QUALITY FRUITS, VEGGIES SEIZED

CHANDIGARH : The Punjab Food and Drug Administra­tion on Thursday carried out a statewide drive and seized 55 quintal substandar­d vegetables and fruits. PFDA commission­er Kahan Singh Pannu said the seized vegetables and fruits were not found fit for human consumptio­n and were destroyed. “During the drive, the focus was on identifyin­g fruits ripened using unscientif­ic methods and vegetables that are not fit for human consumptio­n,” he said in a statement.
