Public safety in mind, Mohali to webcast I-day function

MOHALI : Taking stock of the arrangemen­ts for state-level Independen­ce Day celebratio­ns to be held at Government College in Phase 6, deputy commission­er Girish Dayalan said that owing to the spike in Covid-19 cases, the celebratio­ns would be restricted to hoisting the national flag followed by the address by the chief minister.

He said that in the interest of public safety, no large congregati­ons would be held on the occasion and no cultural programmes would be organised.

The DC added that the administra­tion will be holding webcasting and Facebook live of the Independen­ce Day celebratio­ns in Mohali.

Despite Covid-19, the celebratio­ns would be organised in a befitting manner and with full

zeal, said he.

Adhering to safety protocols in wake of the Covid pandemic and a rise in cases, complete sanitisati­on of the venue would be ensured with only the essential staff on duty, DC said.
